Windshield replacement questions and cost?

Windshield replacement questions and cost?

Two-Part Question:

I have a leased 2006 Jeep Commander and my lease-end is coming up and I need to replace the windshield. I want to know if I am under any obligations under my lease agreement to have the damaged mopar windshield already on it to be replaced with another mopar windshield? Either way, pls. explain?

Note: My windshield does not come with rain sensors.

Any hints and tips to shopping for another windshield and how much is too much? Thanks for the help

Brad

look at your agreement. So often things get over looked, or misunderstood, only to cost us more money. windshields are often ,not viewed as high up on a safety scale, as it should be. Meaning that the windshield from the manufacture that the car/truck was built plays a big part in the whole crash/safety issues and preventing bodily harm. The standards set is in some cases much higher than an after market/less cost replacement company. So double check and get it in writing, if you go outside the leasing company. It may be easier just to pay the extra and have them do it, or ask the leasing company. Also check with BBB and maybe consumer reports. Peace to you…

Brad the only one that can answer this is you. You signed the lease that would say what condition the car has to be in at return time. I would just bite the bullet and call the insurance company – most times the windshield replacement is free on full coverage policies. Call your insurance and ask them – your rates wont go up just because you asked. I would call every glass shop around and ask them too. Sometimes the shop will waive the deductible too.

You'd have to look at your lease agreement about replacement parts. Go with one of the mobile glasss repair guys-they come to your house or place of employment and do the job. You're probably looking at $300 to $400.
